Since 1919, the Bethlehem Hebrew Congregation has maintained a house of Jewish worship to serve the religious needs of New Hampshire’s North Country year-round and seasonal Jewish residents. Our spiritual leader, Hazzan Marlena Fuerstman is on call year round and is in residence from early July through mid-October. During those months we offer daily, Friday evening and Saturday morning Shabbat, High Holy Day and festival services. We loosely follow liberal egalitarian Conservative practices but offer a wide variety of services to meet the needs of our diverse community.
We have strong lay leadership who participate year round in leading services, reading Torah and devrei Torah. Between mid-October and early July, congregants lead monthly and festival services.
Life cycle events are handled year round by Hazzan Fuerstman, our lay leaders and visiting clergy.
Visitors are welcome to participate fully in all services.
