Odesa Boys - Julian Milkis and Maxim Lubarsky - Look Forward To Their Return to Sounds In The Sanctuary

Julian Milkis and Maxim Lubarsky perform at the Bethlehem Hebrew Congregation sanctuary in July 2023

Clarinetist Julian Milkis and pianist Maxim Lubarsky - The Odesa Boys - return to Bethlehem for their Sounds in the Sanctuary return performance, Friday, July 26 at 5:00 pm.

Julian Miklis recently reached out to the Sounds in the Sanctuary audience about returning to Bethlehem:

It was a real pleasure to perform last summer at BHC - very nice acoustically, good piano (again - it is Maxim”s department), the lighting was really good, very appreciative and friendly audience. My stay at the hotel was very comfortable, good breakfast too!

Again it’s a mixture of classical and Jazz music, we will perform either Giya Kancheli’s Ninna Nanna per Anna or Arvo Pärt’s Spiegel I’m Spiegel - both beautiful, fascinating and haunting. We will perform a brand new Blues in D by Faint Lushtak dedicated to me, we played her Blues in C last summer and the audience loved it!

We are looking forward to this concert and please let us know if you need any additional information.

Best wishes and see you in July!

Julian Milkas

Pianist Maxim Lubarsky added this:

I’ll second Julian in saying that it was a pleasure to perform at BHC last summer and we are very much looking forward to the next performance in July. We enjoyed the hospitality. The piano was very good as well as the acoustics of the hall. The natural lighting was very comfortable.  And it was wonderful to meet and to talk to people after the concert.

People who’d like a preview of the program can watch this video from our last summer performance, or enjoy videos of the entire quartet here, here, and here.

As Julian mentioned, we will perform a combination of pieces from various genres, including Classical, music by Piazzolla, New blues by Faina Lushtak, Arvo Part and more.

 Best wishes,

Maxim Lubarsky
