Purim Snowstorm Prompts Belated Celebration

The Bethlehem Hebrew Congregation, in conjunction with Congregation Beth El of St. Johnsbury, celebrated Purim in the North Country a week late but nonetheless enthusiastically. Rebecca Porges entertained the gathering with a spirited rendition of the Purim story. The youngest attendees assisted her by waving puppets and contributing dialogue and Haman’s evil cackles.

 Rabbi Donna Kirshbaum read the Megillah (although in the interest of the children’s attention span, not the whole Megillah) on Zoom. Rebecca Porges led everyone in singing Purim songs. After the program, the children played carnival games, while the adults schmoozed and ate far too many hamantashen.
