Holocaust Remembrance Service 2018
Our Holocaust Remembrance Service was unfortunately canceled this year because of an ice-storm in Bethlehem. The four artists who were to be part of the program have each sent us recordings pertaining to the Holocaust Service.
Hotel Memories
My father, who grew up in New England (Hartford, Ct) would take us to “the country” on his annual vacation month of July. It began with a bungalow in Wingdale NY with my extended family of parents, grandmother, Aunt Charlotte, and Uncle Bob and their 3 daughters. And so they made reservations for “Stonecrest Colony” in Bethlehem, NH.
Seeking Celia: Our Stained Glass Windows
It is impossible to attend an event at the sanctuary of BHC without noticing the two stained glass windows placed on both sides of the Ark adorned with the following inscription in Hebrew and English versions, one on each window
Names on the Wall
The earliest document related to the establishment of BHC to survive the vicissitudes of time (and the North Country’s weather) for ninety years is an unpretentious typewritten list of donors hanging on the northern wall of the sanctuary. Titled “List of Donators [sic] and Donations Contributed by the Jews of Bethlehem for a Torah — Season 1920,” the list includes seventy-seven names or households and is signed by “The Committee” of five individuals headed by “Rev. L. Kahn.”
