2024 Annual Fund Campaign
Dear Congregants and Friends:
As you know, when our High Holiday season ended on October 7, 2023, we heard and soon witnessed thousands of unimaginable acts of violence and terror against innocent civilians including taking hostages in order to barter away the life and breath of the Jewish State. We are now approaching the one year anniversary of this unprovoked act of terror that has ignited a fire of rage and unending cycle of violence and bloodshed towards every corner of Eretz Yisrael and renewed acts of antisemitism within our own nation.

We as a people have a history of enlightening the world even in its darkest hours. From our biblical beginnings our ancestors would always work for a better life for their children and a better world for humankind. In the face of discrimination they formed this congregation on Strawberry Hill Street over a hundred years ago. Its eternal light can be seen shining through the branches of New Hampshire’s famous Sugar Maple trees. It is a light that continues to shine through the adversity and challenges of every age.
BHC has continued to provide our Jewish Community with uninterrupted services. Everyone can safely attend services within our Sanctuary or follow us virtually from their homes, across the street or across the country! We have continued our outreach to our North Country Community with our Classical Concert Series, Film Festival, and “Books of Jewish Interest” as well as exhilarating outdoor gatherings on White Mountain lakes and trails. However, we have never forgotten our loved ones who had put their faith in the future and supported us for over a century to keep this light of the White Mountains shining through the trees.
Your past donations to BHC provided our Sanctuary essentials like a roof over our heads, a new heating system for year round use and security systems for in house and online services. Your donations this year will help fund extensive foundation work and waterproofing to ensure dry conditions in the children’s area of the building.
As I write this appeal to you we are preparing for our most serious reflective services, Rosh Hashana, Kol Nidre, Yom Kippur, and Yizkor, and the happiest: building the Sukkah and celebrating Simchat Torah! We look forward to welcoming all of our members and friends back to our sanctuary on these “days of awe”.
In honor of our loved ones who supported us in the past I’m asking you to make a generous contribution to the Bethlehem Hebrew Congregation to keep our eternal light shining through the trees. “L’dor Vador”, from generation to generation we are the Jewish light of the White Mountains!
“Shanah tovah umtukah!” Wishing you all a sweet year of health, happiness, security, safety, and peace.
