BHC’s New Historic Marker is Installed

Historic Marker - Bethlehem Hebrew Congregation with Bethlehem Historical Society - detail of text

After several years, a new bronze Historic Marker was erected by the Bethlehem Historic Society commemorating BHC's history and role in the community. The marker is dedicated to the late Sid Regen, BHC member and board officer.

This new bronze marker on a granite base is a big quality improvement over the old one and should stay in good condition for years to come.

The updated plaque is part of an Historical Society project begun in 2019, postponed by COVID, and completed in 2023. The plaque is one of 25 installed around Bethlehem. Other plaques include the Arlington Hotel, The Bethlehem Country Club, Durell Memorial Church, The Maplewood Hotel, casino and caddy camp.

Each plaque will be outfitted with a QR code that will make the information handicap accessible.

Visitors can purchase a Tour booklet covering all the sites at the Heritage Society Museum for $5.

A great big thank you to all who helped in editing and arguing over the final text and choosing the photo.
