Remembering Beloved Member Bob Bagnon

It is with great sadness that we learned from the Bagdon family that Bob Bagdon passed away. Bob was 97 years old and until recently resided in Lyman, NH.

Bob, together with his beloved wife Lee, were amongst the very active members of BHC since 2000.

Below is a 2017 letter presented to Bob on his 90th birthday in 2017 written by Eileen Regen and Martin Kessel, which expresses our appreciation of the definitive role he and Lee played at BHC.

Baruch Dayan Emet - Blessed is the true judge.

9 September 2017

Dear Bob,

On the occasion of your 90th birthday the Bethlehem Hebrew Congregation wholeheartedly recognizes you for your many years of activity as a member of the congregation. Your invaluable contributions, together with those of your beloved wife Lee are enshrined in the collective memory of our synagogue and the New Hampshire Jewish community.

In particular we are proud to recall the major efforts made by you and Lee in establishing BHC as an educational center for our youth. Many young people in our congregation then, who today have become responsible Jewish adults, owe the seeds of their Jewish education to the unwavering pursuit by both of you in providing, through the Bethlehem Hebrew Congregation the teachers and resources to enable their early exposure to Jewish culture, traditions and values.

On the Shabbat corresponding to your 90th birthday we read Parashat Ki-Tavo, in which the aging Moses, knowing he will not set foot in the Promised Land, nevertheless looks back on the journey which has brought the Israelites to this pivotal time in their history. You too can, as did Moses, look back on a lifetime of achievement both in your scientific career and your contribution to our small but vibrant Jewish community here in Bethlehem, New Hampshire. You however did reach your Promised Land, surrounded by a loving family and many friends.

May you and your family be blessed with many more years of health and happiness.

Yashar Koach,

David Goldstone, President, on behalf of the Officers, Board of Trustees and the Members of the Bethlehem Hebrew Congregation
