Tu b'Shevat - originally a fixed date for figuring out how to tax the yield of fruit trees, that has recently become a day to acknowledge our connection to the earth itself - may well be the most important Jewish holiday of this century.

SUGGESTED ITEMS FOR YOUR TU B'SHVAT SEDER TABLE

  • olives, green or black

  • dates

  • figs (or fig newtons)

  • raisins or grapes

  • pomegranates - in some form (or kiwi in a pinch)

  • wheat (pita or other bread or crackers)

  • barley in some form

  • almonds (or other hard-shelled nuts)

  • orange(s)
