Barry Zitser Introduces film "King Coal" for Sustainability Event

The film “King Coal” screens at the Colonial Theater, opening on Saturday September 9

On Saturday, September 9, The Bethlehem Sustainability Working Group will host an opening night reception for the film King Coal at The Colonial Theater, Main Street, Bethlehem.

The event begins at 7:00 pm with a reception featuring guest speaker Barry Zitser. The film screens at 8:00.

BHC member Barry Zitser has 50 years of experience in energy and utility matters in various public and private positions. As the evening’s guest speaker, he will address the public health and environmental impacts of coal, followed by the movie.

From the Colonial Web site: Oscar-nominated filmmaker Elaine McMillion Sheldon reshapes the boundaries of documentary filmmaking in a spectacularly beautiful and deeply moving immersion into Central Appalachia where coal is not just a resource, but a way of life, imagining the ways a community can re-envision itself.

The concept for the evening was inspired by The White Mountain Jewish Film Festival, at which Barry is our regular bar tender.
