Kohn passed away in 2010. To honor his memory, Kohn's family has established a scholarship for graduating seniors dedicating their career to teaching.
Kohn's first love was children and he dreamed of becoming a teacher. His wish was fulfilled when he became a substitute teacher at the Lakeway Elementary School. He was a positive influence on both students and faculty, and they “kept him young” well into his 90s.
